Episode #4: Breaking Barriers: One Physician’s Story
In our final episode of 2025, we reflect on this year’s theme of empowerment through the lived experience of an international medical school graduate. We’re joined by Ranya Gabb, Manager of Operations at the CAP Foundation, who reads a powerful story submitted through our partnership with Ace My Path. Their collaboration helps amplify the voices of IMGs navigating the path toward practicing medicine in the U.S. To wrap up the season, Executive Director Maya Ogden, closes the episode with a warm year-end message as we look ahead to 2026.
Ace My Path
The CAP Foundation, in collaboration with Ace My Path, is collecting first-hand stories from IMGs whose journeys reflect resilience, determination, and a deep commitment to patient care. Whether you trained in a large academic hospital or a resource-limited setting, your experience carries wisdom that can guide and inspire others.
For many IMGs, the road into U.S. pathology is filled with challenges—new systems, licensure barriers, cultural adjustments, financial strain, and at times, the feeling of navigating it all alone. Yet we also know these journeys are marked by exceptional perseverance, global perspective, and a passion for advancing our specialty.
We want to honor and highlight these stories. Your journey could:
- Encourage another IMG who is struggling
- Illuminate the unique strengths IMGs bring to the field
- Help raise awareness of the barriers—and opportunities—in pathology
- Strengthen the global community of learners and professionals
- Stories may be shared anonymously or with attribution—whatever feels most comfortable for you. pathology.
