Leadership Development

Leadership Development Award

Among the CAP Foundation’s most enduring programs, the Leadership Development Award introduces pathology residents to the specialty’s issues and leadership opportunities at the institutional, local, state, and national levels. The award enhances each recipient’s education and experience on issues challenging the practice of pathology.

Spring Cycle

The CAP Spring Residents Forum (March 20, 2021) has been made virtual to comply with ongoing COVID-19 restrictions. At this time, the Pathologists Leadership Summit (May 1-4, 2021, Washington, DC) is set to be a hybrid in-person and virtual meeting, subject to change.

The CAP Foundation is retooling the Leadership Development Award experience for virtual meetings to include:

  • Virtual attendance at the 2021 Spring Residents Forum Meeting and/or in-person or virtual attendance at the Pathologists Leadership Summit
  • Pairing each awardee with an appropriate mentor via the virtual mentorship match. This approach continues the in-person partner/mentor matching awardees normally receive at the meeting.

Funding to cover travel expenses up to $1,200 is available for pathology residents to spend a day shadowing a mentor/CAP member leader or to attend the Pathologists Leadership Summit.
