Diana M. Cardona, MD, MBA, FCAP, is professor and chair of pathology at Wake Forest University School of Medicine and chief clinical officer for Advocate Clinical Laboratories. She previously served at Duke University Medical Center as vice chair and director of Anatomic Pathology Laboratories and associate medical director of Duke Health Clinical Laboratories.
Dr. Cardona earned her MD from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, completed residency and fellowship training at the University of Florida, and received her MBA from Duke’s Fuqua School of Business. She has authored more than 100 scholarly works, serves as a collaborator on multiple national research grants, and is a frequent national speaker and media contributor.
A fellow of the College of American Pathologists (CAP), Dr. Cardona has held numerous leadership roles, including chair of the Quality and Clinical Data Registry Affairs Committee and vice chair of the Economic Affairs Committee. She helped create CAP’s Qualified Clinical Data Registry and quality payment program, earning CAP’s Public Service and Outstanding Communicator Awards. She was elected to the CAP Board of Governors in 2023 and currently serves as vice chair of the Council on Government and Professional Affairs. She is also President of the North Carolina Society of Pathologists
