From the President: Join the CAP Foundation at CAP22

If you’re anything like me and the rest of the CAP Foundation, we’re excited for autumn: the sweaters, the falling leaves, the pumpkin spice … and the CAP22 annual meeting!

That’s right, the CAP Foundation will be in New Orleans October 8–11 for the biggest pathology event of the year. And this year is sure to be a special one as we celebrate, educate, and support the specialty and its patients.

Celebrate the Foundation

If you have not already, be sure to purchase a ticket to the exclusive event “Password Pathology: Speakeasy in the Big Easy with the CAP Foundation” on Saturday, October 8, at the Double Dealer speakeasy club. Celebrate with live music, specialty cocktails, and a variety of local bites as the CAP Foundation thanks its donors and volunteers for a successful fundraising year to positively impact the specialty. The event is sponsored by Eli Lilly and Company, and a portion of ticket sales are donated to the Foundation to help fund its many programs.

Visit the CAP22 site’s agenda page and select “Events,” near the top, to learn more. You can add a ticket when you register for the annual meeting, or you can do so afterward if you have already registered for CAP22. Let us know if you have any questions or issues.

Relax and Recharge with the Foundation

Password Pathology is not all. CAP Foundation high-level donors will have access to our premium lounge Sunday and Monday during the annual meeting, and all Foundation supporters are welcome on Sunday from 1:30–3:00 PM CT. The lounge will offer specialty coffee drinks and other beverages, as well as breakfast and other snacks throughout the day. We want to thank our diagnostic partners at Hologic for sponsoring this new, special space at this year’s meeting in addition to all they do to champion See, Test & Treat throughout the year.

Support the Foundation

If you’re not yet a CAP Foundation donor, stop by our kiosk (next to registration) to find out how you can support lifesaving patient-centered programs like See, Test & Treat, or pathologist-focused grants and awards. The CAP Foundation awarded dozens of medical students, residents, and pathologists with grants to help fund new leadership and education opportunities in 2022. Many will be recognized throughout the annual meeting, so be sure to welcome them and say congratulations!

Before the official start of the annual meeting, we hope you’re getting involved through the CAP House of Delegates and Residents Forum at their meetings on Saturday, October 8. Not only are there plenty of great sessions, panels, and important elections, but you’ll hear from new Foundation leadership on ways to not only support the Foundation but make an impact on the specialty at large as well as your patient community.

We hope you’re as excited as we are about the CAP22 annual meeting, and we can’t wait to see you there to celebrate and share more about the future of the CAP Foundation.

Sincerely,
Carey Z. August, MD, FCAP
