CAP Staff Meets Challenge From Loyal Donor
Denise Mack (pictured above, with her family) and Greg Gleason know how to meet a challenge. As CAP employees, they responded to a challenge from Nick Serafy, a long-time, dedicated member of the CAP Foundation Board of Directors.
Serafy is a businessman from Brownsville, Texas. A husband, father, and grandfather, Serafy offered to match donations from the 630 CAP employees dollar-for-dollar up to $20,000. The donations and Serafy’s challenge added up to more than $40,000, one of the Foundation’s largest gifts in 2017.
Serafy is upgrading his challenge to $25,000 in 2018.
Employee-donors are proud to work for an organization that makes people’s lives better.
“Both of my parents are immigrants,” said Denise Mack, manager, learning technology, “and the challenge of caring for yourself when you have others to care for in a world where English may not be your primary language can be overwhelming. The Foundation strives to bring care to those who may feel overwhelmed about seeing a doctor.”
“I know the value of early and accurate cancer diagnosis and I want that for as many people as possible,” said Greg Gleason, chief information officer.
The CAP welcomes anyone interested in supporting women’s access to health services to join Denise, Greg, and other CAP staff in donating to the Foundation. Serafy has set the donation bar high; every dollar toward meeting and even exceeding that amount means more opportunities for uninsured or under-insured women to access affordable care.
