Support, Celebrate Successful Pathology Programs

We’re halfway through 2024 and the CAP Foundation has plenty to celebrate and look forward to thanks to the support of donors, volunteers, supporters, and staff.

So far this year, four See, Test & Treat programs have served over 200 patients in Mississippi, New York, West Virgina, and Texas. At least two patients have received a potentially lifesaving cancer diagnosis and are undergoing treatment plans with their local health care institutions.

We are happy to work with five more programs scheduled through October and wish the pathologists and their care teams all the best. We’ll continue to follow these patients’ stories as a reminder of the impact of See, Test & Treat, which not only has the power to save lives through cancer screening, but also connects communities to preventative care and social services.

If you and your institution are interested in applying to host a See, Test & Treat program in 2025, the request for applications is open June 28–September 3, 2024. Learn more at foundation.cap.org/what-we-fund/see-test-treat.

The Foundation also continued to provide key opportunities to residents and CAP Fellows through its grants and awards. Feedback from Leadership Development awardees who recently attended either the 2024 Spring Residents Forum Meeting or the Pathologists Leadership Summit cited their positive experiences, their enriching mentor interactions, and their desire to get further involved with the CAP and pathology initiatives.

Be sure to say hello to all our award winners at CAP24 and visit the new Awardee Project Demonstrations Workshop where you can learn more about specific Foundation-funded projects from the pathologists behind them.

Kick off your annual meeting with the CAP Foundation at our “Glitz & Giving” event on October 18 at Madame Tussauds Wax Museum. The event will have full access to the museum, great food and drink options, and surprise guests. Reserve your tickets now as I want to see as many of you there as possible!

Our celebration at CAP24 will truly be special for me as my last as Foundation president. I want to thank you all for your support the past two years and join me in welcoming new leadership to the Board of Directors. If you want to do more to support pathology and our patients, I encourage you to apply to the CAP Foundation Board before the October 31 deadline.

It is truly a great opportunity to make a lasting impact on the specialty while working to improve patient care and health equity. The CAP Foundation has big plans and will need an inspired and collaborative leadership to help realize our goals.

Keep an eye out for more news and we’ll see you soon in Las Vegas!

Sincerely,
Eva M. Wojcik, MD, FCAP
